🛒 Ingredients
2 cups thick poha (flattened rice)
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small potato, diced (optional)
2 tbsp peanuts
1 green chilli, chopped
8–10 curry leaves
½ tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp cumin seeds
¼ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp sugar (optional)
Juice of half lemon
Fresh coriander for garnish


👩‍🍳 Step-by-Step Method
Step 1: Rinse the Poha
Place poha in a strainer and rinse gently under running water for a few seconds. Do not soak. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes to soften.
Step 2: Roast Peanuts
Heat oil in a pan. Add peanuts and roast until golden and crunchy. Remove and keep aside.
Step 3: Prepare Tempering
In the same pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter. Add curry leaves and green chilli.
Step 4: Cook Vegetables
Add chopped onions and sauté until soft. If using potato, add and cook for 3–4 minutes until tender.
Step 5: Add Spices
Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
Step 6: Add Poha
Add softened poha and mix gently. Do not overmix or it will become mushy.
Step 7: Final Touch
Add roasted peanuts, sugar (optional) and lemon juice. Mix lightly and cook for 1–2 minutes.
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.

Do not soak poha in water. Just rinse and drain.
